NCTWS Scholarship Information

The NCTWS has a long history of supporting programs that recruit and train wildlife professionals for the future. The NCTWS is committed to providing financial assistance to students in furthering their education in the field of wildlife.  To that end, the NCTWS has established three individual scholarship endowment funds supporting three annual scholarships.

Susan Sharpe Memorial Fur Fish and Game Camp Scholarship Endowment Fund.

This scholarship was established to provide aid to help children from south-central NC afford the cost of attending the Fur Fish and Game Camp, an annual, week-long overnight event for high school students, held at Camp Millstone in Richmond County.  This experience exposes students to many facets of the enjoyment and wise management of wildlife, and is intended to spark an interest in pursuing a wildlife career or avocation.  The camp is sponsored by NC State Cooperative Extension with the support of many non-profit outdoor organizations.

If you would like to make a donation to the Susan Sharpe Memorial Fur Fish and Game Camp Scholarship please send your check made out to NCTWS with “Susan Sharpe endowment” written in the memo field to NCTWS, P.O. Box 37742, Raleigh, NC 27627.  An acknowledgement of your contribution will be sent to the Sharpe family.

Student Scholarships

NCTWS Student Chapter Scholarships

Two new endowment funds were created in 2006 to support an annual scholarship for each of the NCTWS student chapters. The Chapter’s intent is to recognize students who have demonstrated a high degree of dedication and participation in their respective student chapter and who are highly likely to become dedicated wildlife professionals.

The NCTWS Fisheries and Wildlife Summer Camp Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is a member in good standing of the Leopold Wildlife Club, the NCTWS student chapter at NC State University.  The purpose of the scholarship is to offset the cost of attending the NCSU Fisheries and Wildlife summer camp which is mandatory for all wildlife majors.

The NCTWS is partnering with the NC Forestry Foundation, Inc to raise money for this student scholarship endowment fund which can receive donations from any source at any given time. This gives all NCTWS members, allied businesses and friends of the wildlife profession an opportunity to participate in this rewarding endeavor.  If you have questions, comments or would like to make a gift/pledge to the NC Forestry Foundation, please contact Jennifer Catalano at (919) 513-7734.

The NCTWS Wildlife Internship Scholarship provides financial assistance for one or more undergraduate students participating in the wildlife internship experience at Haywood Community College.  Created through an agreement between the NCTWS and the Haywood Community College Foundation, Inc. this endowment fund will provide an annual NCTWS Wildlife Internship Scholarship for one or more undergraduate students participating in the wildlife internship experience at Haywood Community College. If you have questions, comments or would like to make a gift/pledge to the HCC Foundation, please contact the HCC Foundation at 185 Freedlander Drive Clyde, NC 28721; phone: 828-627-4544 or 828-627-4522
