To guide and promote the conservation and management of wildlife resources throughout North Carolina.
National TWS Updates from Dr. Michael Hutchins.
January 2008
February 2008
The North Carolina Chapter of The Wildlife Society has initiated a mentor program to serve as a developmental tool for students in Fisheries and Wildlife. This program will allow students to coordinate with professionals working in the field of fisheries or wildlife and gain insight into careers and pathways that may be in their future. Mentors can offer career advice and real-world work experiences and students can offer assistance with projects. The frequency of contact and duration of the relationship will be determined jointly by the student and mentor, but students and mentors are expected to be in contact a minimum of once per semester.
Goals of the program:
Establish personal contact for students at N.C. State University and Haywood Community College
Give students valuable experience that may influence their career choices
Give professional an opportunity to provide insight and guidance for the next generation of Fisheries and Wildlife students
Provide a link between the current curriulum taught at colleges and the working community
The program is designed to be flexible and provide a match for both parties so that the mentorship can be convenient for scheduling and traveling. To be a part of this interactive career-training, please return the appropriate attached information sheet. Your partner will be selected by the NCTWS mentor program liaison and you will be contacted with his or her information.
