The North Carolina Chapter of The Wildlife Society is revamping their mentoring program to serve as a developmental tool for college students in the areas of natural resources. This program allows students to coordinate with professionals to gain insight into career opportunities. Mentors can offer career advice and real-world work experiences and students can offer assistance with projects. The frequency of contact and duration of the relationship will be determined jointly by the student and mentor, but students and mentors are expected to be in contact a minimum of once per semester.
Goals of the program:
Establish personal contact for students at participating North Carolina Colleges and Universities
Give students valuable field experience
Give professionals an opportunity to provide insight, support, and guidance for the next generation of natural resource professionals
Provide a link between the current curriculum taught at colleges and the working community
The program is designed to be flexible and provide a match for both parties so that the mentorship can be convenient for scheduling and traveling. To be a part of this interactive career-training program, please return the appropriate attached information sheet. Your partner will be selected by the NCTWS mentor program liaison and you will be contacted with his or her information.
